When
you are in the midst of an addiction, freedom seems like an impossible and
unattainable prospect which is far away in the distance. However, you need to
think about the fact that cravings and addictions can lead you to do some
things that you would rather forget.
During
one's lifetime, a person may go through many traumatic experiences and not be
themselves the whole time. Everything can become stored in your mind in some
unknown cavity and this can be quite arduous to have to carry around with you.
Life can be very challenging and you do not need any trauma and stress on top
of the usual challenges you have to deal with in everyday life. The easiest
thing to dull your emotional pain seems to be to numb your feelings so that you
nullify the effects of pain. Or
you can look for things which temporarily alleviate the effects of the
addiction like food, alcohol and some other compulsive behavior. The beliefs
and memories which you have stored inside you force you to become someone who
you do not want to be and no-one likes being an addict, it is an undeniable
fact.
Addictive cycles can get worse and worse over time the longer they are left untreated and you can become deprived of your essential life energy and become a shell of who you really are, devoid of your true feelings.
Now,
imagine that you have had enough of this situation and consult a book or a
doctor who can help you to reprogram your thoughts.
I
have done this many times and have had many self-help guides and techniques,
all of which led me to realize that one good way of fighting addictions is to
stay away from them as much as you can so that you can resist temptation.
Getting
distracted, reading a book or watching the TV, practice meditation, forgetting
the problem, visualizing your great new life- these all sound like professional
advice.
When
you employ these techniques, you will realize that it is hard work in staying
clean from your addiction. Distractions are all well and good but they can
still make you a slave to that sort of behavior for the rest of your life.
However,
the emotional pain (traumatic memories and so forth) will still be there in
your mind. Unfortunately, the best coping mechanisms in the world are not
ever-lasting- sooner or later you will have to fight some other addiction which
intrudes your life.
True
freedom, strength and empowerment come naturally when resilience in fighting an
addiction is displayed. For example. you can buy copious amounts of alcohol and
never touch it, which will make you feel really empowered and in control of
your own life.
I
found a new powerful approach so you will be able to stay in control of your
life for good. If you would like to learn more about this or to experience it
